The Official 2010 CPDSA Skating Season will begin on Saturday, April 10th. Until then unofficial skating will continue at The Winter Skate Circle In Central Park When the weather is dry.

Please think about renewing your membership in the CPDSA or joining if you aren't already a member. The CPDSA will need volunteers to get us going and keep us rolling this season. We will have a meeting of volunteers in the next few weeks.

We will be Skating in the Halloween Parade Saturday, October 31st at 7:00 PM. Meet up with Tyrone and the CPDSA skaters at the Southwest corner of Union Square Park on Saturday, October 31st. Between 5:00 and 6:00 PM and skate down to the little park at Broome Street and 6th Avenue where we will be paired up with a musical float by the Parade organizers.

They tell us that we will probably join up with the the Dance Parade Float. Parade organizers ask us to be there at 6:00. The Parade will step off at 7:00

CPDSA and World Team Now will team up to organize a human zero, “O” , or circle, made up of in-line and roller skaters in New York City’s Central Park.

We plan to be part of a global event, World Team Now and CPDSA, will join 350.org, with Spectral Q., to make a montage on Unite Now’s web site by Climate Action Day on Oct. 24th . this action will raise awareness and promote the upcoming U.N. Climate Conference in Copenhagen.

We plan to make an organized circle, zero, "O" on skates, and then begin rollin’ forward for clean emissions. The “O” will be shot from above, the photo/video will only take 5 minutes to shoot. When we start moving, rolling along, it will be symbolic, to demonstrate “the environmental global movement” and the importance of the Energy Bill moving through the USA Congress, and encourage world leaders to attend the international COP15 UN Conference this December, and move to ratify an international Climate Treaty.

The other 3 and the 5 will be made in cities like Copenhagen and Kyoto. Please join us for the photo/video and wear purple, if you can’t wear purple please wear green, blue, white or black. Click here to read more about the event.

We love to roll, a reminder that skating is a zero emissions form of transportation. We more than a stand, we are a movement for net zero buildings, and Zero emissions, and meeting the 350 emissions target. Scientists say that 350 parts per million CO2 in the atmosphere is the safe limit for humanity. Read More.

A year ago, CPDSA and World Team Now (aka Team World Corps) joined together to promote “Green Jobs” and World Team Now’s “Net Meter” Event. See Skate Circle Team Rolls out for "Green" in the Rain

Thank you to the skaters that showed up in the rain, last year. We hope the weather will co-operate this year to have dry pavement for one of our last official days of outdoor skating. This year if it is raining after 2:00 pm, the event will be canceled.

We have still not secured our usual storage space in Central Park, but we are working hard to keep the Skate Circle rolling.

This is an emergency situation and we need your help!!

If you have a van, pick-up truck, a large SUV or station wagon and can help us move our equipment into the Park on weekend days when we play, it will help us to continue to operate.

We also need volunteers to help us move our equipment into the park, set up our equipment and prepare the grounds for skating before every session and help put the equipment away at the end of the day.

We have done this in the past and with your help we can keep the Circle alive.

We're not finished fighting to get our skating rink back, because we don't have it back yet!
Please take the time to go to http://SaveSkate22.org to petition for the re-opening of the rink in Union, NJ. Show determined solidarity with your fellow skating enthusiasts from Union NJ. We are so close to getting our skating rink back due to the support that we already received from our national skating community.

How can you help?
1. Sign the petition, fax in a petition, call the Union Township Committee.
2. Spread the word throughout your network of friends, family and group membership.

The support so far is having an effect on the local committee members. If the petitions slow down now, they may keep the rink closed.
